BEST TIME TO VISIT MUGHAL GARDENS

An ideal time to pay a visit to the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar is between October and June because during October to March as the place is chilly and a perfect place to spend some time for snow lovers. During April to June, the climate of Srinagar is amazing, and the Tulip festival which is regarded as colourful festival there is also organized during April.

TULIP GARDEN

Dubbed the largest tulip garden in Asia, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is one of the must-visit places in Srinagar that sits at the foothills of ZabarwanMountain. A seven-terraced garden is known for its 48 varieties of tulip flowers which not only interest the adult members of the family but the kids too. The garden also has several types of other flowers like daffodils, hyacinths, roses, narcissus and other ornamental plants. The water channel running through the terraces adds more charm to the place and makes it a perfect place for romantic couples who can get some memorable pictures clicked here. Sprawling in 30-hectares of land, this major tourist site in Srinagar comes to life during the spring season when the Tulip Festival is held.

SHANKARACHARYA TEMPLE

Shankaracharya Temple is an ancient temple that finds its origin in the 4th century. Shankaracharya Temple lies at a height of 1100 feet above surface level of the city. The structure of the temple boasts about the architectural style of those times. However, many additions and changes have been made to the original structure. Erected on a high octagonal platform, the temple can be reached by a flight of steps. The fencing walls of the steps have some inscriptions on them. Inside the temple, there is a Persian inscription that dates back to period of Shahjahan. To visit a temple one need to climb min.243 steps. The top of the temple affords a mesmerizing view of the valley below

SONAMARG

Sonamarg is a picturesque hill station in Jammu and Kashmir, located 80km north-east of Srinagar. At an elevation of around 2800 km from sea level, Sonamarg is known for its snow-laden fields, surrounded by majestic glaciers and serene lakes which casts subtle spells on the travelers. Sonamarg is enveloped by the great Himalayan glaciers –KolhoiGlacier and MachoiGlacier -and gives rise to the famous Three Sisters of Kashmir Valley. Towering over this charming hill town are the peaks like KolhoiPeak, Amarnath Peak, MachoiPeak and SirbalPeak which makes Sonamarg a popular place for adventure sports tourism. The Sonamarg Valley is divided into two halves by the Thajiwas range -on one side is the fir-covered Thajiwas spur popular for its camping site. The other side houses some stunning waterfalls and the Thajiwas glacier which is the prime attraction of this place. Sonamarg has ancient importance because it was a gateway on the ancient Silk Road that connects Kashmir with China.

GULMARG

Located at 51km from the capital city Srinagar, Gulmarg-“Meadow of Flowers” is a hill station situated in the Pir-Pinjalrange in the Western Himalayas and lies within the boundaries of Gulmarg Wildlife sanctuary. The natural meadows of Gulmarg, which are covered with snow in winters, allow the growth of wild flowers such as daisies, forget-me-nots and buttercups during spring and summer. They are interspersed by enclosed parks and small lakes and surrounded by forests of green pine and fir.

The best time to visit Gulmarg is dependent on the kind of vacation the travellerseeks. This destination satiates every case of wanderlust, catering to varied types of travel activities. The months from March to June are the warmest months of the year, thus providing travellersan opportunity to enjoy activities that involve the natural greenery of the area. The months through October to February are the coldest months in Gulmarg and bring snowfall and extreme winters and are more suited to winter sports and such snow-related activities. The months through July to September bring in the monsoon, the monsoon here is relatively light and make for a pleasant climatic setting.

PAHALGAM

Pahalgam, the jewel of the picturesque Liddarvalley located at an altitude of 2130 m above sea level amidst the great Himalayan range. Pahalgam also known as the “Valley of Shepherds”, is 95 km east of Srinagar in the Anantnag District of Kashmir. Pahalgam is a part of Asia’s only saffron growing area. One can see the saffron plants in full bloom in the month of October & November.Pahalgam, withits breathtaking beauty and incredible landscape that is dotted with meadows, valleys, dense forests of pine and conifer, lakes, snow capped peaks provides just the perfect background for shooting a film and no wonder then, that it is highly sought after. Several movies have been shot in this beautiful region.
